Wedding Portrait

This image is from a wedding last month at Edes House in Chichester. The couple were great to work for and their joy and love came through in the photographs.

Edes House is over 300 years old and the original wood panelling made a beautiful backdrop for some portraits after the ceremony. I'd spotted this part of the room before any of the bridal party had arrived and took a test shot to see how the lighting looked. When we returned after the ceremony the lighting was still good with late morning autumn sunshine from a window to the left of the camera giving strong side lighting, accentuating the shapes and textures in the image. The critical part was the positioning of the couple's faces but a very natural look between the couple made the moment. We took three shots over a couple of minutes. Exposure: 1/250 sec, f6.7. Aperture priority with +1 stop compensation.
