St Alban's Head

23/09/11
On a recent trip to Dorset for landscape and nature photography I spent a beautiful evening watching the gathering sunset from St Alban's Head near Worth Matravers. I hadn't visited the area before but researched as to when and where the sun would set. A bit of time with the map then gave me a short list of locations for the trip. Of the three days this was the only dawn or dusk where the weather came right.A grey graduated filter helped balance the sky and land. Apart from that it was just a case of settling on one composition, using the histogram as a rough guide to exposure, positioning the filter carefully, locking the mirror up and using a cable release. Oh, and waiting. Waiting and enjoying the atmosphere.
