Lowepro Lens Case 4
The case is designed for lenses such as the Canon 70-200mm f2.8 L IS USM or the Canon 100-400mm f4.5-5.6 L IS USM with their hoods reversed. The outside of the case is made of water-resistant 600D TXP™ fabric with thick padding inside to provide plenty of protection against knocks and scrapes. The outer dimensions are 5.5"W X 6"D X 11.4"H (14 X 15.2 X 29 cm). Inside they are 4.5"D X 9.6"H (11.5 X 24.5 cm). It weighs in at 0.81lbs (0.37kg). The case has a rigid (and padded) base, with a 1" wide (2.5 cm) shoulder strap, compression straps and a loop handle at the top. It is part of Lowepro's Sliplock system so can be attached to many of their bags and belts. Inside the lid is a small elasticated mesh pocket that could hold a lens cap or cleaning cloth.
So what is there to say about this case in practice? Well, it is bulkier than some of the cases from other manufacturers but this is because of the thick padding which does provide excellent protection for your lens. The case is attached to a bag or belt with a rigid tab that is secured with a double velcro set up. At first I was slightly worried about this but it is actually very reliable and has never let me down. There are two fabric loops at the top of the case and as extra security I attach these to the D-rings on my Toploader 75 using Nite Ize S-biner carabiners. The case has enough room for my Canon 70-200mm f2.8 lens with the hood reversed and the tripod mount ring with a Giottos MH642 quick release plate attached. I don't use the shoulder strap as I find it is too narrow and tends to be uncomfortable.
So overall, a reliable and well made case that does what it is designed to do. Would I buy it again? Definitely.
