Cinnabar Caterpillar
(Tyria Jacobaeae). This was one of several cinnabars climbing up to feed on ragwort shortly after dawn on a July morning. A single Cinnabar will eat a Ragwort flower in about three minutes. They feed gregariously and a brood of caterpillars can destroy a whole plant in a day.
